The gear box housing supports the main drive gears and bearings, keeps everything in alignment and protects the moving parts from dust, compound and accidental knocks in daily workshop use.

Over time the housing can crack, distort, strip threads or simply become tired from hard service, while screws can stretch, rust or lose their bite.
